【学校基本概况】

Overview

北京海淀北京外国语大学外籍人员子女学校(英文名:BFSU International School),是经海淀区教育委员会批准,由北京外国语大学教育基金会举办的K12一贯制学校,是一所非营利性全日制可寄宿学校。学校位于海淀区西二旗大街19号。2022年秋季招收3—6岁学生入学,以后逐年扩大招生范围。学生入学须符合《北京市外籍人员子女学校管理办法(修订)》的有关规定。

BFSU International School (hereafter referred to as the School),approved by the Haidian District Education Commission and hosted by the Beijing Foreign Studies University Education Foundation, offers K to 12 curricula. It is a non-profit full-time boarding school located at No. 19 Xi'erqi Street, Haidian District. The registration exercise for the fall intake of 2022 is now open for students aged three to six. The scale of enrolment will be expanded year by year as we advance. Admission to the School must comply with the "Administration Measures for Schools for the Children of Foreign Personnel in Beijing Municipal (Revision)".

The School firmly believes in creating an environment conducive for students to maximize their potential and achieve success. Centered on the three pillars of breadth in knowledge, physical and mental wellness, and realizing potential, the School strives to promote experiential-based learning and project-based learning holistically, instilling in our children, the educational ideal of taking ownership in participation and practice. It is in this light that the School implements a “house system” from grade Three and above to put in place a community management structure. It is hoped that through involvement, students will learn to cooperate, and from practicing, students will become more inventive. We like our children to be independent while sociable. High-quality education program

北京外国语大学外籍人员子女学校的课程方案着眼于构建高质量的教育体系,开设“语言与文学、数学、人文与社会、科学、技术、艺术、体育与健康、综合实践活动”八个学习领域的课程。课程设置在广度和深度上体现中国国家课程与外国课程的融合,以遵守中国的教育法规与制度为前提,实现汉语教育与英语教育“同步驱动”;聚焦学生在各个学习领域的知识、技能和行为表现,包括识记、理解、应用、分析、批判和创造等方面的能力表现;运用现代教育理论、原理,创新教学策略和教学模式,有效促进学生学业成长和全面进步。

The School aims to offer a high-quality education curriculum in eight areas: language and literature, mathematics, humanities and social studies, science, technical study, arts, physical education and health, and practice-integrated study. The curriculum design demonstrates the synthesis of the Chinese national curriculum and international curricula to cover both breadth and depth. On a compliance basis with the Chinese education system and regulations, the School will simultaneously drive both learning systems to equip students in all areas of content knowledge, skills, and behavioral performance, and to build their capacity in recognition-memorization, comprehension, application, analysis, critique, and creativity. To that purpose, a variety of pedagogical strategies and models will be used to help students learn and advance.

北京外国语大学外籍人员子女学校以“国际理解,多语种教学,共同体意识和全球思维”为办学特色,从全球意识教育、多元文化教育、和平教育、环境教育、可持续发展教育等层面推进国际理解教育;依托北京外国语大学办学优势,除开设英语外,还开设德语、西班牙语、法语、日语、俄语、韩语等选修课程,推进多语种教学,促进中西文化的交融;完善外籍人员子女接受中国语言文化教育体系,促进学生中文水平提高以及对中国文化的深入了解,通过中西融合的国际课程体系,发展学生的多元文化理解力,为在北京市工作的国际化人才的子女提供优质教育服务。

The aims that underpin the School’s establishment are to foster international understanding, stimulate multilingualism, shape shared community awareness, and advance global thinking. The School would inculcate global awareness, multiculturalism, peace, environmental, and sustainability education to foster global understanding. In terms of multilingualism, the School leverages Beijing Foreign Studies University’s expertise to offer, in addition to English, elective language classes in German, Spanish, French, Japanese, Russian, and Korean, alongside our advocation of East-West synthesis. This line of thought complements the goal of providing children of foreign personnel residing in Beijing with a comprehensive and high-quality education in the Chinese language and culture, raising their proficiency in the language and deepening their knowledge of the culture. The School is committed to enhancing the students' understanding of multiculturalism through an integrated international curriculum.

【课程与教学评价】

Curriculum and performance evaluation

北京外国语大学外籍人员子女学校拥有复合型的课程结构,建立了健全的质量保障体系。根据外籍人员子女学校确定的人才培养目标,围绕教学条件、教学过程、教学效果开展教育评价,注重校内督学、教育专家、教师同行、学生和家长对教学工作的评价,聚焦学习效果、学业增量以及教学资源的有效使用,引进国外教育测量工具,及时总结教育教学改革成果和经验。同时,不断加强与北京市同类学校以及普通中小学的沟通交流和经验分享。

The School employs a robust quality evaluation system to assess our cross-disciplinary program. As part of the assessment, the pedagogical settings, the teaching process, and the effectiveness of the teaching process will be analyzed against the talent training objectives set out in the provision of schools for the children of foreign personnel. School inspectors, educational experts, peers, students, and parents will participate in the evaluation process, which will look at learning effectiveness, incremental learning, and the effective use of teaching resources. New educational assessment tools will be introduced from time to time to aid in drawing timely conclusions about the results of, and learning from, educational and pedagogical reforms. In the meantime, the School will continue to strengthen its communication with similar schools in Beijing, as well as conventional primary and secondary schools to promote exchanges on educational concepts and instructional methods.

【学校管理与师资团队】

School management and teaching staff

北京外国语大学外籍人员子女学校实行理事会领导下的校长负责制,由国家督学、全国基础教育知名专家林卫民担任理事长兼校长。目前拥有博士、硕士、留学归国人员以及北京市特级教师、市区学科带头人和骨干教师等一批优秀教师,学校常年聘请来自美国、加拿大、英国、法国、德国、西班牙等国家的外教团队,采用国外教育的小班化教学管理模式,推进现代学校制度建设,努力实现“国内一流的外籍人员子女学校”的办学目标。

The School is managed by a School Council and the principal is held accountable for its day-to-day operation. Lin Weimin, a leading national education inspector and expert in national foundational education, has been appointed the council’s Chairman and Principal. The School boasts a talented group of teachers, some of whom hold doctoral or master's degrees, or are trained overseas. Special-grade teachers in Beijing, district-level subject leaders, and backbone teachers are also found among our team of faculty. As well, the school engages foreign teaching teams all year round from countries such as the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain, and others to teach small classes as is popular in the foreign educational systems. This is part of our effort to modernize the school system in our quest to become a top choice for children of foreign personnel in China.”
